End-of-Life Notification for Old Ordering Part Numbers -PEOL 11112021-00

I. Summary

MultiTech is releasing new ordering part numbers for certain Dragonfly™ LTE Cat 4 cellular embedded modem products. The existing ordering part numbers are changing status from Generally Available to End-of-Life (EOL) effective immediately.
For each model that has become EOL there will be two new models introduced as recommended replacements as described below. Buyers will need to consult with their MultiTech customer service representative to determine which of the new ordering part numbers have the best availability and order accordingly.

All of the new ordering part numbers will include a new radio firmware version that changes the default User Equipment (UE) setting from Voice Centric to Data Centric. This change is in response to the AT&T 3G sunset and its impacts on certain 4G devices.

In addition to the new Data Centric firmware, ordering part numbers that include .R2 also contain an updated revision of the printed circuit board with alternate components. This change is in response to global supply chain issues. MultiTech has redesigned the .R2 models with components that may be more readily available.

The core functionality of these new Dragonfly MTQ-LNA7-B02.Rx ordering part numbers has not changed. MultiTech has made these updates to address a change in carrier network requirements for 4G devices and to address global supply chain issues.

II. Product Description

The MultiTech Dragonfly™ cellular embedded SoMs and modems are fully certified and MNO approved, ready-to- integrate modules that offer developers the functionality of a programmable computing platform with the convenience of an onboard cellular radio all in one compact design. From a software perspective, Dragonfly is compatible with the Arm® Mbed™ programming platform allowing for rapid prototyping, development and deployment. With its integrated Cortex®-M4 processor, developers can host their application and have access to a full suite of interfaces for connecting sensors or other remote assets.

VI. Suggested Action Plan

To help facilitate the launch of the new ordering part numbers, we recommend the following actions be taken:

• Forward this announcement to others within your organization who are actively involved in the sale or support of cellular embedded modems.
• Ensure that the new ordering part numbers are loaded in your pricing system.
• Update existing purchase orders to call for the new ordering part numbers based on availability provided by MultiTech customer service.
• Place initial stocking orders for the new ordering part numbers.
• Update design registrations to include both of the new ordering part numbers.
• Notify and work with existing customers to migrate to the new ordering part numbers.
